MMO Success Story
Ok, well I dont know if this is entirely accurate, but I swear Im making more power after using MMO. Heres the story:
The other day, I thought I would premix a 16oz bottle of MMO into a full 15 gallon fill up (87 octane or whatever the low grade is), just to see what all the fuss was about (OMP still hooked up and working as well). So I did. Upon startup, nothing seemed special, nothing odd, just nothing. I drove about 10 miles that day, and nothing special happened. No rays of light and soothing music or any of that crap like the car was saved. The next day was Sunday, and I went to a meet and on a drive. On the drive which was close to 200 miles or so, my car started acting really funny. I wasnt under 45 for probably 90% of the time, but when I did drop under there, or push in the clutch for any length of time longer than for shifting, the car would die. It didnt wanna stay running unless it was over 4K. I started to get worried, but nothing was "out of the ordinary". I just kinda tried to forget about the problem, as the car was running GREAT above 4K. Nice and responsive, etc. I kinda chalked up the stalling to possibly altitude changes as we were all over the place and up by moutains and crap. I dont know. Anyway, like 3/4 of the way through the drive (150 miles or so), the problems all went away. She started running smooth all the time, and was pulling really well over 3500-4K RPMs. It was really weird. So then, at the end, when everything was said and done, I was on my way home. Some guy in a white N/A 2nd gen on the highway (I-5 south) decided he wanted to race me. I had a 190 pound passenger, and he had two people in his car as well. I beat him 4 times in a row. This was a first for me. Normally my car would only keep up with them. I have NEVER pulled ahead of a 2nd gen until that day. The first time I beat him, he pulled up next to me, and we both went from a 70 MPH cruise. The second time, he had dropped off behind me cause there was a slow van in his lane, and as he tried to come up my right side, I took off again and kept him behind me. Then, the third time, I had let him pass me, and then he started brake checking me and ****, so I went to pass him, and pulled up his right side and passed him (I heard him downshift trying to keep me behind him). The fourth time, he pulled up along side me again, and we went from a 70 MPH cruise...Again. He wouldnt mess with me after that, haha.
Ok, Im getting side tracked. The point was, that my car now feels like its making A LOT more power over 4K RPMs. I shifted into 4th on the highway after redlining 3rd racing him, and actually lost traction for a split second on the semi-wet roads with new Toyos...Its weird. My car just seems to pull really hard after 4K now. I think the MMO might have cleaned something out, or something. Its just crazy. Anyway, I just wanted to post this little experiance. I think Im gonna keep premixing the MMO whenever I can afford it just for good measure .

PS - That drive took all of my gas basically. I got 275 miles outta that tank. I filled it up today with just regular gas and no premix, and the car still feels great .

Well, see Jeremy, I thought of that. I was running 87 octane with the MMO, and just to see what the difference was, I filled it up with 92. There was no real difference, it feels the exact same. So even with the 87 octance, it ran good, and if the MMO lowered the octane below 87, it still ran good, and with the 92 octane and no MMO, not only does it still run good, but feels the same. The other thing I noticed too is that it seems to backfire more when I open the secondaries just for a split second. Almost like its actually getting more gas now or something? For instance, if Im on a slight up hill grade and in 5th gear, normally (before MMO) when I step on the gas and open the secondaries to stay at speed, then let off at the top, the car would pop, once lightly. Now, I do the exact same thing in the exact same spot on the exact same road, and it will backfire louder and more than once. Its a loud pop, then one or two smaller ones (depends on how long I have my foot off the gas and coasting down the otherside). Its really weird. The only thing I can think of is that its just getting more gas than it used to and flowing better. I rechecked my mixture and everything, its still right.

hell, you got me. the butt dyno at work i guess. i've noticed both my 79 and 91 ran a bit smoother with mmo. power gain was negligible. hard evidence is few and far between. someone would have to dyno, pull it off, add mmo, fix it in the tank(drive), then come back and dyno. i really don't see anyone doing that to find out the affects of mmo. however, it's general consensus that it helps to restore compression, especially in flooded cars. tastes great too.

Don't waste your money on the high octane fuels for your NA RX-7. If the motor had its way, it would be eating somewhere between 81-85 octane rated fuel. The only reason to even consider running premium or plus would be if you are running some mad timing advance.
Just because it is more expensive, doesn't make it better.

I know all that, I only did it to proove a theroy. The theroy was it only ran better because of the MMO lowering the octane rating of the 87. But since it runs just as good on the 92, this is obviously not the case. Something else has happened .

PS - Its not MY money that pays for the gas . I drive a friend around constantly, and her Mom just gave me my own gas credit card, so I can use it whenever I want. It sure does help seeing as I have no job .

Start with 2 oz. of MMO per tank and work up to 8 oz.
Both my cars are purring like kittens. Can't even tell the 83 is running! The 85 took a couple months to smooth out (probably the carb was as filthy as the fluids I drained when I bought it a few months ago).
Question is: what makes MMO? I figure it's a pure light oil taken off the cracker at a narrow point, free of tars, and with detergents added. But what do I know? Anybody enough of a Petrol Engineer to make a good guess?

So you used a whole 16oz bottle. Was there any smoke coming out from the exhaust when you take it to above 4K?
evidently. you should see the backside of his car
you've given the motor an MMO bath, right?

My MMO treatment consists of doing the atf trick with mmo, then adding a quart of mmo to 20w-50 oil when I change the oil and dumping 16oz of mmo in the gas tank. It was a different car after that. My GSL-SE seems to have great compression and give me 24mpg on the highway. I have been getting this mileage consistantly for a year now running mmo occasionally in the gas but usually 1/2oz/gallon of 2 stroke.
