Missing at idle.......85 gsl-se

running the dellorto carb setup and it started missing today at idle. I changed the plugs, ignitors, cap, rotor, wires, checked the timing.

when i pull wires one by one each one makes the coil arc to the ground except when i pull L1. When i pull L1 and keep it close it has spark, when i pull it away it doesn;t make the coil spark, but rather makes an arcing inside the distributer.......

with L1 connected and supposedly firing (i have spark) and i pull T1, the engine almost dies...

what would make me have spark on L1 but not quite enough?

If i retard the timing it idles great and drives like crap.

Thanks in advance.

Well the only common thing is the cap/rotor/plug wire. If T1 is firing good and hot, then the mag trigger, igniter, coil, coil wire are good. Nothing else pops to my mind.
