Miss my GSLSE turbo.
Lost track of the guy I sold my car to. So im going to do it all over again. Found some super clean cars to look at this week. I've been out of the rotary world for awhile so Im going to have to find a new engine builder in Orlando.
I love the look of a unmolested SE. Why did I ever sell that car it was a perfect sleeper!!!

love the braaaap
Seems it doesn't matter if its a modded out turbo'd beast of a 1st gen or an all stock 1st gen, these cars are simply addicting. I got rid of my 82 for reasons that will not be discussed here and I regretted it so much I bought another one lol.

Same here!
I feel ya man.
I sold my turbo SE for a FD. I always wanted one and could have both.
The FD was nice but it couldn't take the place of the SE and i really missed her.
Luckily three years later I was able to buy her back.
Now I'm very happy
Keep trying to hunt down your old car.
Good luck!

Well, you do, but as I said above, it's been "molested".
The chassis is an '84 GSL-SE, which I got without front fenders, motor/transmission and title. Adding a Mariah Mode I body kit took care of the fenders, as well as providing room for much wider tires. Adding an '87 T-II engine and gearbox took care of that problem. I had a title and the ID plate from a '79 (the yellow one on the first page )that had been sent to the crusher, as well as a few body parts from that car.
So, legally speaking, I added the GSL-SE chassis and the '87 drivetrain and a '93 alternator to the '79 parts to "restore" the '79.
Functionally speaking, it's a GSL-SE with a 390 rwhp motor. The intent was to meet the "Other Imported" category for the One Lap (see http://www.onelapofamerica.com/rulesForms/ShowRules.do ) In the old days, the cutoff date for that class was 1979. The rules have now been changed to 1989, so it's a moot point.
Another advantage of the 1979 title - in some states - is that the car is considered a "classic" and does not have to be inspected or smogged. That was true in Maryland (25 year cutoff). It's not in North Carolina (35 year cutoff)...yet.
Hope that clears up the questions.
