BC mirrors on quarter panel

Does anyone have or know how to get these mirrors?

http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/disp...eumMain&bhcp=1

EDIT: it's flash, so go to "HISTORY OF MAZDA" and then click on 1978

I think they look excellent and I want to hook them up on my '81.

Can I just move my mirrors to that location?

Is there anything about this in the MVA? (Canada)

Cheers

I've driven a 77 with the fender mirrors. They look cool, they are useless as mirrors.

I think the fenders need to be strenghtened, plus switches and stuff added. I've seen a picture on this board where someone moved them up from the doors, and they look really out of place.

i have a 78 savanna, which have the mirrors on the fenders. since it's a jdm car i actually like them there because it gives you a better field of vision

Those are totally in the way for doing engine work.

the savanna fenders have extra bracing inside where the mirror mounts, if you try to mount mirrors without adding this extra bracing they will vibrate like mad, and dent the fender if bumped/nudged.

hmmm...
I see

Has anyone done the conversion?

Is it easy to fab some bracing mounts? How hard is it to get up in there?

Also you can only do this to the 79-80 models.

Someone above stated doing to their GSLSE..it would look stupid because they never came that way. Even in Japan, the later year 1st gens had regular normal mirrors.

I know I researched cuz I wanted the cool fender mirror look too until I found out it is not correct.

I could've sworn I saw an '81 with wing mirrors in Brian Long's RX-7 book.

edit: here's an '82 http://savanna-rx7.co.uk/gallery1.html

I just cant picture a mirror 3 feet away from you giving you better vision than the tiny one beside you. Maybe just me

I think they look awesome but as others have stated they would just always get in the way. Probably not ALOT of fab work but the bracing would be trickiest so you arent warping you fender out...

I would think the angle of vision is narrower (depending on the magnification), but it'd be easier to look through the windscreen than out the sides windows.

Better for racing, you don't have to turn your head, but for the street good luck seeing someone next to you in the rain.
