Mirrors on the front fenders?

Ive seen alot of pictures with 1st gems that have their side mirrors mounted up on the front fenders. How impractical are these? How hard is it to mount them up there?

It offers better vision, and eliminates the need for a passenger side mirror (I only have one vehicle with a passenger side mirror. Those damn things are damn near usless no matter where they're mounted.)

just bear in mind the JDM RXs with those mirrors are different from the ones on the US doors. The stem of the mirror is longer, so it hangs out from the side more to give a better view than if mounting a US-spec mirror out there. Also the fenders are reinforced in the JDM cars to take the torque of the mirror bouncing around out there.
