Minimum thickness GSLSE rear brake disc??

My Factory Shop manual only lists minimum thickness for GSL type solid read discs.

Nothing on Mazdatrix site.

Nothing came up after 6 searchs.

There are no markings on the disc's themselves.

So, anybody know what the minimum thickness (run out) for GSL-SE rear brake disc??

Turning brake rotors is a waste new ones are cheap plus you can get vented or slotted for like under 250$ Front and Rear.

Rear Discs on the LSD I have (GSL) are unvented... Is it a straight swap to make them vented?

Thats for solid rear discs. Same minimum for 2nd Gen solid rear disc.

I'm really wondering if minimum for Vented rear discs on a GSLSE is the same as for a 2nd gen considering they both use the same brake pads

22 MM with a minimum of 20MM for GSL-SE

It was not listed in the brake section of the service manual, I found it in technical data.

All GSL-SE were vented, None of the GSL were vented.

I think he meant drilled or slotted. You will not find anyone selling vented rotors for a direct replacement of a non vented rotor. The venting would weaken the rotor to much.

Ok, I'm going to bring this up again as on second review .866 (22MM) standard and .787 in. (20MM) minimum makes no sense even though thats what the bood says. My existing ones measure at .76 and no wear lip on the edge. So, the entire disc would have had to wear .1 inches since last brake job while my existing pads have about 70% pad left.

The GSL-SE uses the same rear pads as a 2nd Gen, and rear disc standard on a 2nd Gen is .787 in (20MM) and minimum .71 (18MM). I have to believe rear discs on a 2nd Gen and GSL-SE are the same thickness standard.

Further, if the FSM is correct, on a GSLSE front discs standard are thinner (18MM) than the rear (22MM)

Anybody that has access to a new GSL-SE rear disc, please measure and post how thick it is. THAT should clear all this up. Wouldn't be the first time some wrong information was in a FSM.

I'm going to start a second thread with the bold part as subject line to be sure this is seen.
