Mikuni 44PHH guys help!

Not even thinking about it.. I just now realize my old crankcase vent system won't work with the RB 2 piece sidedraft manifold for my Mikuni 44PHH..

I have the hose with PCV valve that goes from the oil tube to a vacuum source.. but now where can I find a vacuum source for this?? the one on the manifold already is for the brake booster...

I tried searching, and many people have the same problem lol

Some of the filter baseplates have an angled barb on them where you can hook up the pcv hose. That's how I have the DCDs setup.

That's enough vacuum to vent?

If i'm reading correctly.. the intermediate iron has to tap into the air cleaner too..

Yep, that's enough to vent. Just tee the iron and oil fill vents, then install the pcv between the tee and filter base.

Instead of making a new thread calling Mikuni 44 phh guys to help.. I might as well use this one with a different problem!

I got it on my 12a and running.. but i'm having a heck of a time acheiving a smooth idle under 1000 rpm... I did all of the usual base settings.. mix screws 1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated.. idle very low, barely enough to run.. but as much as i adjust the screws 1/8 at a time.. the car will either die, or just sound like a bridgey idling.

As for driving, it feels really good when you're giving it gas.. nice and smooth, but when you let off to slow down, the car gets jerky and the engine sounds kind of like a soft machine gun, not a smooth RRRRRRRRrrrrr.. more like RRRrRrRrRrRrRrrr

I attempted the same things with the fuel pressure set to 4 PSI and 3.5 PSI with no result

I have to be easy on the throttle because this is a fresh rebuild with less than 10k on it..

The throttle linkage seems to be binding, or just has a weak spring, for it is not returning to the stopper screw on its own

This is a fresh 12a stockport
Mikuni 44PHH
RB 2 piece manifold
Carter 72 gph fuel pump
Holley 1-4 PSI regulator

And it was sold to me stated that it has been set-up already for a 12a stockport

I never assume someone selling a setup like that has it running good. I always assume they dont, thats why theyre selling it. If ti were me i would start from scratch. Check floats. check fuel filters and so on. Make sure you have brand new spark plugs. not clean, NEW. FWIW i have been fiddling with my 45dcoe for about 6 months now and everyday i read and learn and do the car runs better and better. It takes time and money if you dont have the wealth of knowledge and expieriance as some of the other guys do on the forum.

I found it!

While tuning the carb with no results once again.. I finally noticed this loud hissing coming from the carb, sounds like a massive vacuum leak

Theres a little round thing (pictured) that looks like an actuator of some sort, which appears to be a vacuum leak.. I can push it in towards the carb, the leak slows and the idle smooths a bit and gets lower

Then I let go.. bam, high lumpy idle... What is this thing? how do I fix this leak?

I was tuning the mixture with this huge leak, thats why it wasn't doing anything, right?

Thanks, I hope i can get this working

does the carb raise the idle for cold start by using an intentional vacuum leak? how crude :P

DUde,
On a different note, I noticed from your pic, you have camber plates on your car, where did you get them to buy and at what cost ??
THanks
