Might get a parts 1st gen

Hi, A guy has a 82 rx7 for sale for parts. he has no title. I am wondering if it would be worth buying, and parting out. Im a 2nd gen guy, so im not really sure what parts off a 1st gen are in demand. What are the most commonly sought after parts on the 1st gen cars? Thanks

Depends on the model and options. Lsd is worth some bucks, so is a glass sunroof and black interior. If the shell is in good shape and not rusty, maybe one of the ITA or IT7 guys might be interested.

Post pics, then put it in the forsale section.

How about a complete running car, Wow, What a concept! Sell it to someone that will put it back on the road again. It's ok to part out 2nd gens but too many 1st gens going to the scrap yard is giving me an Ulcer

I believe the models are GS, GSL, and GSL-SE in that order on the first gens. Still new though so correct me If I'm wrong.

It is worth almost $150 as scrap steel.

A GSL is the sought after model. An 82 will have an oil cooler that is worth 75 - 100. If is is a GSL with the disk rear and LSD then the rear is worth $150 - $250, Running engine?

Well, I went and bought it today. Its an 82 GSL. Its a shame it has no title because its a good running little car. Has 121k miles. Its an AUTO though, but overall its in pretty good shape. is there ANY way to get a title for this thing here in Kansas? I heard it was last registered in Texas. The guy I bought it from was promised a title, and never got one. So im not even sure what the last registered owners name was. Any help??

You will need to do a tittle search, Carfax, find the last known owner and try to contact him/her. Send a registered, return reciept letter to the last known address. Also contact the DMV and ask them what thier proceedure is. There is a way to get a tittle for an abandoned vehicle, they can tell you the hoops you will need to jump through.

carfax just tells you how many owners, and what state it was registered in. It doesnt say WHO was the last owner. Im not too sure how to get the last owners actual name, and address... any ideas?

If you know the last state and vin #, contact that state's DMV, state you case and ask for an owner's name and address. If you know someone in law enforcement, they may be able to run the vin or tag if it still has plates on it.
