My tranny is crapping out on me, and I am looking for a replacement. I remember reading a while ago that a 5 speed from a miata would work, is this correct? I think the miata tranny has closer gears, I remember reading that, but is it worth the trouble? I have an 84 SE

 

the tailshaft is something like an inch too long, if i remember right. it's possible just the gear section is the only swappable part. i'd say just get a new se tranny.
