Miata seats in a first gen?

Im hoping someone can answer this for me. Im wondering if miata seats will bolt into a first gem RX-7? Reason Im asking is because my fiance bought me a nice new set of seats (aftermarket universal type) and they arent even close to being able to fit in my 1982 RX-7. I had to set them aside in my closet. The miata seats look like they will fit size wise, just the rails would need to be swapped over. The mounting configuration on first gen RX-7 for the seats is unusual and tough to modify. Im hoping someone who has done this can answer this question for me. Im hoping I can bolt on the RX-7 rails and simply bolt in the miata seats? Please let me know, thanks in advance.

Yes they fit....
My 84 GSL-SE has a set that are mounted up with some work. You will have to add some sort of "block" to the back of the rails to level the seats. I don't know if the rails are from a 1st Gen or the Miata as the seats were installed by the previous owner.

I was able to make the driver side fit pretty well, using the FB rails and an adaptor plate of sorts to make the holes line up with the mount holes. The passenger side never really fit right, I got it pretty good, but I was never satisfied, as you have discovered I'm sure the catalytic converter hump in the floor is what makes things to hard to modify, the rx7 seat frames are angled to accomodate this, most other seats aren't. I ended up scrapping the idea and put FC seats in instead. I might still have the bracketry I made if you are interested in pictures.

I may end up using FC seats then. I just dont have the time to modify things like I use too. Too bad though Ive seen some great miata seats in wrecked cars. Finding a nice set of FC seats isnt easy.

Yea I know, finding a set of miata seats (the first gen ones at least) wasn't hard at all, got a really nice pair less than a hour from my house. Like I said the driver side fit pretty well, and a little fine tuning to my brackets would have made it pretty damn good, but the passenger just didn't wanna work for me, ended up finding a pair of FC seats in great shape locally through a friend and went with those instead.
