Not too long ago I bought my 84' -se and I knew it had a few problems with it. The guy that I bought it from had to replace the starter and one of the wires leading off the battery for some reason. I started it one day, just to let it run. I let it idle for a few minutes and then cut it off. When I cut it off the engine sounded like it was idleing extremely low, so i tried to stall it by engaging the clutch, I depressed the clutch again and it made the sound again. After that it stopped. I looked in the engine bay and saw that the lead clamp on the positive terminal on the battery had melted. Since the engine kept goin after my atempt of stalling it I think that the starter got stuck in start.
If any body can help please tell me how I can fix it.
also does anyone know were I can get some stock replacement rims. I've tried some junkyards, but I can't find the right one's.

Very interesting problem. A couple possibilities... Did it sound like the starter was cranking after you turned the key to "off"? If so, the ignition switch or the starter solenoid could be the culprit. Another possibility is that it was running on the trailing ignition... if that's the case, ignition swich or melted wiring in the engine harness.
I'm intrigued, I'd like to know what you find.
