MegaSquirt vs. Wolf3D

Hi guys (and gals)
As a part of my Project GSL-SS, I'm going to need a EMS/ECU.
Now, my personal favorite is the Wolf3D v4+, but the MegaSquirt is a solid contender at an unbeatable price.

I need help from anyone running a setup using either of these two systems.
Sell me on them; tell me why your EMS is superior

Also, for the MS guys, what are you using for ignition? Stock, or one of the add-on's?

Thanks!

I would go with the Wolf3D, just because the name MegaSquirt is just so lame

Actually, I have neither and can't contribute anything. Sorry

Either one will work fine. MS provides it's own spark management; the Extra code and MS-II both reliably work well. I have ~18000 miles on the Extra code and ~2K on the MS-II. This is on my rolling test bed 1983 RX-7 w/ a nicely street ported 12A. See http://smrmicro.com/v-web/gallery/ for pics.

I know both will work
Why did you go with MS?

How was the install? Any problems?

How much work is it to setup te software?
How hard was it to tune?

How do you find it fo driveablilty and power?

I stumbled across references to it while researching the old EFI332 project and found a completely open source project, hardware and software, supported by a knowledgeable, pleasant, diverse group of people/users who do not know the meaning of the word "can't". I really like knowing how/why/what my engine management system is doing and the commercial guys, understandably, don't like releasing their proprietary intellectual property. If you make sure you read the docs and ask questions if you don't understand something, install is no worse than any other EMS. I moved from carb to EFI by use of an RB Weber manifold and a Weber Alpha throttle body, making sure I had good sensor installs and it was basically easy to get to a working base install. I've since added fuel pressure and EGT logging. The key to tuning is logging (assuming absence of access to cheap dyno time, etc.) a bunch and analyzing the logs. Driveability and power are excellent - my last trip to the dyno (last year) yielded 167RWHP@7500 and that was with stock ignition. Gas mileage has been as high as 28 (75mph cruise on totally flat roads running 15.5AFR) and down in the low teens while having fun and making noise. Butt dyno tells me it's doing a little better after tuning the advance via EGT feedback now that we have tunable ignition support. We do not have trailing support yet so boosted rotary ignition on leading only is not recommended until this is added - which is imminent. Look at msefi.com or megasquirt.info for further info.

Wolf appearantly can not datalog yet. That is really sad because datalogging is a very nice way to solve problems and see when and where things happen while running. I can't wait to datalog my MegaSquirted engine.
