Will cost? It's already done and running.

Like the video on post 191?

I have a few more I need to digitize. Really I've been more worried about other things so I never got around to it. Hopefully the car will be running better and I'll have more time to dedicate to filming instead of working bugs out.

Of course, it would be capable of much more power, but I'm limited by my class and this way I can leave the motor stock. Makes it cheap to replace if anything goes wrong.

I got my 3 QT Accusump this weekend. For those of you who don't know what the Accusump does, you should look it up. It's pretty neat. The unit stores oil under pressure, and when you uncover the pickup, pumps oil into your motor saving the bearings. You can also use it to pre-lube your engine at startup. This makes my oil system somewhere around 9 Quarts now... wow!

As for the headlights, I built them myself using fog lights, roof flashing, and some plexiglass. Not bad for essentially free. Now to finish the other one... :-)

Your car has all the makings of a showcar . that being said ... is there any way you can tuck the engine under the hood without having to cut it ? the car would totally kick *** if you kept it street legal. on a side note ... what happened to all those opels (the mini vette looking ones)? guys were putting v-8's in ? they looked terrible , but nowwadays they do win shows ... and drag races .
there is a guy around here that has a hemi in his FB with a blower on it , no hood . lol . body on frame car like what you are doing , pretty much it is your car with the lines of a rx7 .

The lights came out of a really cheap Miata kit. I don't know where to buy them now which is a shame since I've already broken two of them racing.

Just came back from instructing at a Seat Time event at Roebling. Over 4 hours of track time makes for a long weekend. $200 in gas later and I can't wait to graduate and get a real job again. For anyone near Savanah Ga you should check out Seat-time.com It's hard to beat the amount of track time for the money that you get.

BTW, I have a supercharger on the way. Now to convert the car to DIS and get everything fabricated....... again.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I spun at 90 mph this weekend and blew the hatch off the car. Apparently the rear hinges aren't that strong... who knew?

I'll have to replace the hinges and come up with some stronger pins for the rear glass. If you're going to spin, make it interesting!

Where were you at when you spun at 90?

Roebling Road in Savannah, Ga going into turn 4. I was left foot braking and squeezed the petal just a bit to hard, sending the car around. I still need to go vacuum all the sand out of the car.

Well Rockingham is finished and as I predicted, it didn't finish the 4 race weekend. I burned something on the megasquirt on the last lap of race two, and the car didn't make it back out after that. It is running so rich that it's fogging fuel out of the tail pipe. I have a lot to work on. On the plus side, the supercharger arrived today. Fun times fabricating over the next few weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to make it out to Roebling at the end of May in all my supercharged goodness. We'll see.

I just posted on that forum not too long ago. The Megasquirt has crapped out on me, so if I come up this weekend, it will be if I can fix it. Right now, it's not looking to good.

Previously it's been a corrupt firmware. I just re-flash 029v and problem solved. This time though, that didn't fix the problem. It's very frustrating.

The Megasquirt is still getting looked at. I'll have more info this weekend but it still looks physically fine. My money is on a dirty signal currupting the firmware still. We'll see how it goes.

Also, I started working on the aero package for the car. $170 later and I have a rear wing that should help keep the car planted. It likes to get squirly under hard braking.

Also on the list for Roebling (in just over two weeks) is ss brake lines, a newer set of Hoosiers, front air dam, finish up the Accusump, and do the gear swap with a longer driveshaft. I'll keep you guys updated. Things should move faster now that I am graduating. Last exam is in a few hours.

Well, I'm officially a Clemson Alumni now, so I have the next 4 days to basically work on the car in the hopes of getting it ready for Roebling. I'm not brave enough to disassemble the drive train to do the gear swap so close to a track day, so the gear will have to wait. Plus I've already been to Roebling with this gear, so I won't have to change any shift points.

Mike is coming over tomorrow and we're going to town on the Megasquirt issues. We're going to try the spare and see if that helps. That should tell us if it's an injector driver or wiring that is the issue. The Accusump and brake lines are still on the agenda, as well as the tires obviously. If there's more time I might try my hand at fabricating a front splitter, but that's lower on the priority list. I need to get the car to the event and run both races to keep ahead of the points race. Right now I'm winning ST-2 regionally, but a missed race or two would tank that in a hurry. As it is, the only reason I'm beating Jody and his Z06 is because he didn't make it out to Rockingham and I pulled ahead of him by one race.

Also, I hope to have a job secured after this coming weekend. We'll see what I can work out. Steady income would really help me finish my car once and for all.

In other news, Doug, Ken, and Devin from the Clemson Sports Car Club just finished running One Lap and took home 1st in Mid-priced Sedan and 5th overall. They destroyed the competition in an SRT-4 and we're all very proud of those boys! They represented us well.

A lot has been going on in my life which is why I haven't been able to update as much as I wanted to. Roebling has come and gone with results as expected. The car ran fine and I had a blast.

Rockingham has also just passed with some highs and lows. Saturday I ended up qualifying in 2nd overall, which was awesome to be starting on the lead row. After fighting tire problems all weekend, my Hoosiers gave up the ghost in NASCAR 1 nd spun the car 180 degrees, facing me towards 25 cars heading right for me. I made a call that up was better than down into the field, so I burried my foot on the brake and let the car slide up into the wall tail first. The back hit and slung the front around, taring off the front wheel and ripping out three of the hood pins. The impact also split the radiator and severed and pinched several oil lines. I'm not sure if the engine survived but the whole front is a total loss. I'm too busy with work to make a super detailed accounting of what happened, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. It looks like I'll need to install a whole new front clip. The back of the car is basically unharmed from the looks of it.
