Is that for them to pull it, change it and reinstall?

The rest end up in service garages and the back yards of the local rotary engine gurus for any given area.

Those living out in the sticks aren't as fortunate. With fewer options for a buyer, the seller knows he can name any price and get it, because the buyer will waste an entire day of his time and two tanks of gas driving into the city to save a measily $150 to $200.

I wouldn't consider Washington D.C. out in the sticks.

Makes sense, as the Miata tranny is similar to the 7's tranny. Both are Model M or type II or something...

I wonder which shifter you have to use, and how it affects gear ratios.

ive read that theres a lot more low end speed, and the shifts are a lot cleaner

Damnit. Got involved with stuff and couldn't edit...

All ratios are closer on the Miata.

Miata
3.136:1
1.888:1
1.330:1
1.000:1
0.814:1

RX-7 (12A)
3.622:1
2.186:1
1.419:1
1.000:1
0.807:1

I think that it'd ruin your acceleration in low gears.

heres what i was referring to
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...miata+gear+set
yes, i have switched over the miata tranny guts to the rx7 tranny case..... the input shaft is the same spline as the rx7 tranny, you just have to trim the splines down 1" to fit the back of the rotaty motor...the output shaft is also the same as the rx so the driveshaft fits too,, without any mods.....
the gear ratio is much closer with the miata tranny wich helps acceleration alot.....

miata tranny is a straight bolt on to any rotary. all you have to do is trim the input shaft (the section that sits on the pilot bearing). I've done it...in a RX-2. nice close shift tranny.

Acceleration needs torque... Taller gears means less torque... If he's got 680 RWHP, then he's got some crazy mods, hence he's probably got much more additional torque...

There are 5 speed SA trans, A 4 speed is kind of rare to have.

The Mod is to cut the hole bigger.

He is new to the fourm but has been selling parts lately. Alex7 has vouched for him. He is also sending me a 79 tranny supposed to ship today. Hope it is not the same one.
