Im glad you have faith in yourself.. lol

What do you do when you try to start it? Do you just turn the key, or are you pumping the gas before then turning the key?

Definately true. When its warm dont pump the gas, just crank, see if it starts easier.

On the stock 12a FB there is a "hot start assist" mechanism which cracks the throttle open just a bit to facilitate starting.

So if yours isn't working or has been removed (like mine), just hold the throttle open slightly when opening. I can't imagine that holding the throttle ALL the way down would be the way to go, not sure why you're doing that. But when my car is warm I just crack the throttle a little, hold it open just a tad, and crank.

They're definitely tougher to start when cold.

If you're still having trouble, when was the last time your ignition parts were changed? (spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor). Those can have an effect.

And Eric and I found out that having new battery cables helps get a more vigorous start, that helps alot. The difference in cranking speed between my old cables and my new ones was incredible.

If your timing is off a bit it will sometimes be harder to start when hot.... Now that I got mine adjusted I just touch the key when its already warm and she starts right up. Before that it was a bit tougher.
