Mallory 4309 FPR = too much pressure to the Mikuni 2bbl.

Installed the 4309 which I obtained for free from the guy I bought my car from since the one that was installed was leaking (another Mallory, different model didn't utilize the fuel return line). At the time I just wanted my car running without it spewing gasoline all over the toasty engine block. When I installed the FPR the instructions said to use a return line that was of equal or greater diameter than the supply line. The return line on my 1983 GS is smaller than the supply line, but I hooked it up anyway since I just wanted my new car running.

The problem is now that I cannot lower the pressure below ~7.5psi and for the mikuni on my car it's suppose to be between 4.5-5.5psi. I believe that this is a result of the smaller diameter return line. I would like to keep using a FPR that utilizes the fuel return line is there another FPR that can be used with a return line that is a smaller diameter than the supply line or do I just need to go back to a FPR that doesn’t use a return line?

A holley FPR has 2 outlets. You could use the 2nd outlet as the return. Just use the stock return restrictor so all your fuel doesnt go back to the tank. I guess youll need the 4-9 psi like the one we used in YapaKanichi's mikuni. We didnt use any return on his car though and its fine.
