Major oil leak!! 84 GSL help!

At the bottom of the tube you put oil in! There is a pool of oil thats leaking down the housing and on to my driveway!

I cant seem to think of where its coming from? there is a medium size tube that plugs in down there could it come from there?

Also i just bought the car and it has a FRAM oil filter is that bad or something? i heard you needed a certain type of oil filter is this true?

Someone please help me and answer my questions thanks!

Well the pedistal is leaking, just like it did when i bought my FC.

Anybody got an easy way to remove the small 10mm nut closest to the firewall?...lol

Im guessing my oil guage and water temp sender units are toast!

I used to just use a long extension, sockets and wrenches. You can do it with just regular tools,so long as you dont have fat stubby arms!
Just be sure you get all 4 o-rings since you have the crappy beehive type oilcooler. There are 2 under the pedestal and 2 above it.
Fram filters will do the job,but lots of people hate them.....nothing special is needed on a rotary, although a good filter with an anti-drainback valve is always a good idea. The oil and water temp senders will usually tolerate some dousing of oil,its the wires/connectors that deteriorate.Just clean everything up well and be sure to powerwash the area when done.
The air/oil coolers from the 79-82 and FC's are a good mod to make to the 83-85 12A cars.Just hope you dont already have the dreaded oil leak near the distributor, that one means an engine rebuild to fix.
