main pulley

i am trying to remove my main pulley. I took out all four screws and this sucker wont budge for nothing. Its not the old school rivet kind either. Dead blow does not work 2.5 blow does not work. Is it safe to put a pulley extractor on it. The screw kind just didnt wanna but torque on the main bolt if it was not safe. For those who dont know what one is this is what i am refering to.

Did you smack it with a hammer while the puller was on? This has worked for me before on different things.

With my pulley, I just smacked it a couple times with a hammer and it came right off lol.

Also I mainly have used the jaw kind, and havent had any real issues.

mine has rust around the inner lip where it mounts to the innerside and it wont budge. When i turn the pulley the e-shaft still moves with it so its stuck on there lol

the id of the pulley seizes to the flange it slips on and mounts to. often times a little heat from a map gas torch is used around the area where the two pullies meet. use the heat in a cricular motion, heating the enrire area. this will expand the outer main pulley. at this time, use a rubber mallet and smack the outside edge of the pulley. work around it, smacking it until it breaks free. i know there is not much clearance with the radiator in place. you can always get a brass drift and smack the pulley from behind with the brass drift and hammer.

if you can get it in there it won't be a problem to use a puller. there's really nothing you can damage. you might mar the front cover's bolt head a little...
