Lsd?
Hi, I posted about my car awhile back and I have another question now.
Does a 1985 non GSL-SE whatever have a lsd rear end? I coulda swore it did when I first got it, it laid two patches the first time I did a burnout, but now it seems to be only spinning one wheel, or was I just mistaken that first time? I dont know, help please.
Also, I checked to see if my accelerator pump was working, so I stepped on the gas and it worked fine, but I noticed if I had someone floor it while I looked at the carb the two bigger throttle plates did not open up... do those only open when the car is on or something? or is my linkage stuck/broke?
also (i know, enough already!) what would be some good winter tires to use on my stock 13" wheels for a decent snowy michigan winter? Should I get some cheap steel wheels to put em on?
Ive been looking around at exhausts and headers and what not, and I am wondering which brand would be the best bang for the buck, I check out monza exhausts and they are pretty dang cheap! 140 bucks for headers and another 140 or so for the exhaust, just need a flow through cat pipe from somewhere and I would be all set...
thanks!!
Brian

Does your car have rear disk brakes?? if it does than you have LSD, if not, not.
The Secondaries are run off of vaccume. That means that they only open up after 4k.
You can convert them to mechanical secondaries, that way your foot operates the secondaries.

You can always find the rear end out of a GSL and do a swap. There are a lot of threads out there that talk about this. I just recently did this myself. It took me and two friends about 6 hours. This included stoping fairly often to smoke and a couple of breaks to get out of the rain.
If you are looking for a header, and or a replacement pipe for the cat go to racing beat. They have both and make good stuff.

how much would a rear end on one of those cost? I mean, it might just be cheaper and more cost effective to go get a GSL with the 13b in it instead of my 12a and kill the whole LSD issue and lack of power issue in one stone.

Airflow is my life
Your LSD clutches are probably worn out. Jack up the back of teh car. Have someone hold one of the rear wheels still while you try to turn teh other one. See how much force it takes to turn teh wheel.
