Low RPM Hesitation

I have been experiencing some hesitation with my 85 S 12A with 156k. I am wondering if it is the cold weather that is causing it or if I have a bigger problem. Even after it has been warmed up, it feels like you have to push through something to get any power out of it. It usually happens from 1k-3.5k. Also it has been backfiring quite loudly lately, but thats from the air pump that I need to remove. Any ideas?

Fuel filter? Carb probs? You could be running rich or timing might be off and causing backfires. If you want bring it down here and I can take a look at it for you.

It has a new fuel pump and filter. I had to disengage the choke due to it being stuck open so I have to sit in the car till its warmed up. What are you doing sunday? I could make a trip down to Albany

sounds exactly the same as what I had, and yeah, carb cleaner seems to have fixed it.

Replace all of the rubber jungle and disconnect the air pump drive belt.

Re pushing through something, it sounds like someones converted your vacuum secondaries to manual... This can cause flat spots.
