Fuel Level Stuck

The fuel level on my 84 is stuck. It's a hair over E and just stays there. When you crank the car, it goes to that point and stays. My assumption is that the float is stuck inside of the tank. I only assume this since if it had a bad electrical connection, it wouldn't move at all. Do I have any options of trying to fix it without removing the fuel tank? Thanks in advance....

I have the same problem only I don't think mine moves at all. I'm gonna drop the tank for an EFI conversion at some point so I'll get to play around with the connection back there and try to get the guage moving again.

Either the float is stuck, or it's a bad ground somewhere. The float was stuck on my REPU. I whacked the side of the tank with a 2x4 and the guage started to move again. It was really sporadic at first but seemed to smooth out a bit.

FYI: You do not drop the tank to remove the sending unit. :-)

Thanks, I should have looked at it before posting. I thought from the diagrams it went in from the top. I'll have to poke my head under there...
