Arrow low idle and power loss issue - Part 3

Okay...you can read about this from the following other threads...

Part 1
Part 2

Yesterday I get home to do my first ghetto compression test...I pull the spark plugs front first then rear...and i get a consistant pfffffft! so I'm thinking my seals are fine now....phewww!!!! Also changed the spark plugs while I was at it and poured some MMO into the dynamic chamber...this made the idle REALLY smooth but still really low in idle and power

I checked the wiring harness connecting to the injectors...they seem fine...there really is no way to tell unless i remove the injectors and send them away so that test will come later.

Today I hope to run out of this fuel and get a new tank at a gas station i haven't had issues in before...and...this weekend I'm planning on changing the fuel filter...

I've made a list if issues that this maybe...

Bad fuel (this started just after I got a full tank of gas from a station I've never been to before)

Clogged fuel filter (this weekend will tell this answer)

Bad injectors (i want to do other tests before removing the injectors at this time)

Clogged cat (this could be the problem but how do i test this? just let the car run and see if the cat glows?)

Please help with any other ideas on what this could be.

just because the cat is clogged doesn't mean it will glow. Mine never glowed and was plugged like hell. If it was a sudden loss of power as you describe its not gonna be a clogged cat unless something big clogged it, very unlikely. Unless the fuel is full of water or something its unlikely thats the case either. I would also find the filter hard to believe as well, that would be a slow loss of power spread out over weeks/months as it got more and more clogged. I could be wrong, but my logic would refuse to believe any of those things would be the culprit. I have no experience with FI, so I can't help much beyond this.

Did you actually do a "compression test" by removing a plug, turning the engine over, and listening?

Haven't posted on this forum in a while but I have a few things you should check....

1) This really sounds like you have lost an ignitor - had the same thing happen to me when I switched to directfire. A loose wire on the leading was causing all the problems. Easiest thing to do is check your timing - if you have lost a signal on the lead or trail (no strobe), then you have an ignition problem.

2) Vac leak around the injectors - normally this wouldn't cause a drastic loss in power, but it will cause your idle to drop like a stone. Pour a cup of water down around the injectors side of the engine and if it stumbles, you have a vac leak. BTW, the hissing you mentioned in your earlier post is most likely your idle screw - I assume you have it twisted out most of the way trying to compensate for the low idle.

Thats all I can recommend - one last thing, if the car starts up easy, I would assume your seals are still good. Hot starts would be real tuff also.
2 cents - good luck

yup...about every half second there is a loud high pitch poof of air...both front and rear have the same speed and same sound...

thanx northern7...i'll try the igniter again...hissing is coming from the top screw......sorry...won't touch it again
