low idle with AC?

So my car runs fine, and idles perfect, except when I turn on the AC? When I turn on the air, the idle will cut down to 200-300 and if I full blast it starts to sputter like it's going to stall. When I cut the air, it resumes its regular idle. I can live without AC for now windows open gives me all the air I need, but would be nice to know why? Could this be related at all to a vac leak? or is that just a stupid question? Any ways, thanks for any advice. (I searched and couldn't find any thing, searched Low Idle, AC, Air, Idle AC, etc.)

Year and model?

Check the AC sol and vacuum hoses. Also do the shutter valve test.

Do you know how to check the shutter valve?
Yes it's true I am biased against the shutter valve.. it's utter **** that Mazda
should of recalled years ago..

Also on the inside of your hood is a vacuum map. The AC sol has the white dot. Just inspect the hoses, careful not to break any solenoids.

There are 2 different AC types for 85. Does it have a High and Low nipple with covers on the top middle and 2 hoses in the back top? (Sanden if so).

I just went out to start my car, I looked at the air filter hole as described in faq, and the hole defiantly had a strong vacuum. Also I've heard the "honking" when decelerating as described a symptom, so I'm assuming the shutter valve is toast. When I install a new valve do you think this will solve my problem?

Yea that BEEEPer BEEPing valve... I hate it.. I am gonna break down and finally get an old school manifold and sterling and be done with it...

The guide there says a lot also the FAQ here has some info. I am trying to rig mine right now without taking the carb off to put a new one on.

You can double check your solenoid too the procedure is in the manual.
