Low Clutch Fluid
Low Clutch Fluid
Ok, so i went to Jiffy Lube, to get an oil change, and they said that my clutch fluid is low. I would like to know what i need to put in it, and where it goes, keep in mind that i am a newbie when working with mazdas. Simple step-by-step would be excellent!
Thanks,

In the far left (driver's)corner of the engine bay, near the windsheild,is the clutch master cylinder. Its a little round plastic tank with a metal line coming out below.Directly next to it is a larger, rectangular plastic tank with a similar round cap.Thats the brake mastercylinder.
Both take the same fluid(DO T3 or 4 brake fluid).Just fill to about 1/2" from the top and replace the cap.If the fluid level goes all the way to the bottom, you will lose control of the clutch. If the fluid continues to go down over time, you have a leaky clutch system, which is pretty common on older cars and especially with RX-7s.Since its low now,you likely already have a leakage situation, although it could be minor at the moment. This could eventually leave you stranded,so keep it in mind if the fluid level drops regularly.
Heres a pic of the two tanks, brake in the center, clutch to the right......
