Which car to sell?

I've got too many cars: 3 RX-7s and a REPU. Now that I've got them all in good running condition, and I'm starting to run them thru the bodyshop for de-dinging and paint, they'll all be very nice. So maybe I should sell one or two (even if it's just to make room for a new car), even tho they don't mean much money. Here's my thinking about each:

-1974 REPU red: 120k, 15k on new mazda 13B, runs like a champ, needs driverside door de-creased but finish good otherwise, needs dash refurb. This little honey runs so sweet and true it's a pleasure to take on the freeway, but heavy non-power steering and tight seat fit for in-and-out driving around town. I just use it about once a month to haul something, but when I need a truck it's a good one.

-1983 GS Misty Blue: 120k, 12A runs great, smoothest engine I've ever driven. Bought it new and I'm the only driver. I'd hate to let go of this car, still my favorite to drive.

-1985 GSL Silver: 75k, bought it cheap 3 yrs ago with 49k, been using it as my DD tho the seat is a tight fit (I have a spare seat I'm trying to reduce for more room) this car has been a workhorse for me, replacing my old Mercury sedan as a DD. This is such a nice car it would be a shame to let it go.

-1985 SE faded silver: 140k, bought cheap last year, now running very good and handling well, excellent mechanical condition, will get new paint job soon. This is a pretty good SE and is the most powerful and fastest.

Technically, I don't need any of these cars! I'm semi-retired, live in a nice place about 1 block from the village, and I don't have to commute anywhere. But I enjoy driving as long as I can avoid commute traffic. Aside from occasional errands, mostly what I do is drive up into the mountains (I live 1/2 mile from the start of Santa Cruz Mountains roads) to a nice hiking trail for my daily heart-healthy walk. The 7 is a great pleasure on the short-turned ascending mountain roads and most any driver ahead is polite enough to pull off and let me pass.

What should I sell? Or should I keep them?

What to sell

I had several trucks so I know how you feel about yours, Keep it. The 83 is your favor, so keep it too. The SE is the last of a dying breed, as sleek as any other and with the power and amenities of very few, Keep it as well. That only leaves the GSL which base on the mileage it out to bring enough for one good paint job.

If I were in your shoes, I would never consider selling the 83. You bought it new, which makes this the single most valueble of the lot. Sentimental value mostly, and cannot be replaced with any other item.
I know the usefulness of having a truck, even a small one, so the REPU would be almost in the same place as the 83.
The other 2 (gsl and se) would only be considered for sale IF continueing to own them started to become a bit of a burden on the budget.
This, of course, is just what I would do, were I in the same situation.

Keep the Repu and the 83. sell the other two.

for me I would keep the Repu, And never consider selling it, Well unless you wanted to bring it to GA then take the 83 and transfer the GSL bits from the 85 GSL onto it. And sale the GSL as a GS.

Sell the GSL, keep the other three. The GS was bought new by you and is therefore valuable as a one-owner car. The REPU is priceless since so few of them still exist in decent condition and the SE will be very valuable in a few more years since it was the top-of-the-line 1st gen. Even if you have to store one or two of them it's better to keep them than to sell.

I agree with the others. Keep the REPU and the GS, and sell the GSL and the SE.

Why is the GS better to keep? is it just due to the fact that its a one-owner car???

I wouldn't mind a REPU; rotary+pickup=Best of both my passions.

The 83GS is probably the most fun to drive in the mountains, even tho only a 12A and non-LSD, because it's so light and responsive. I like to drive the mountains quick-smooth instead of fast, setting up my corners in advance. Sometimes I get to yo-yo a BMW or something.

I concur.

I wouldn't sell any of them. But if you must, I'd keep the REPU and the GS.

REPU and 83GS seem to be the winners. I don't HAVE to sell anything right now, so I'll hang in there with all of them. I might buy a place up in the Sierra Nevada foothills, Amador county, and leave a car or two there - i'd hate to part with the 85GSL (it's been a luxurious workhorse DD for 3 years) or the SE (powerful and running real good now), so why do it?

I'd like to get a nice Cosmo, though.
