Low budget power mods...
I'm looking to get a little more zip out of my 81 but i can't afford the 13B upgrade or anything to pricey as of now so i was wondering if you guys could supply me with some mods i can make and how much it will cost and an estimated power gain if at all possible..

You might have checked this out but maybe not. It is in the faqs. It has some good stuff. This has been asked before so try searching if you haven't. Good luck.

Hmmmm....search!
Seriously though try to search this forum. There's even an answer in the FAQ.
Read the faq, but, here's what I've had done to my daily driver...
Exhaust - headers and a free flowing exhaust. Most expensive in this list, but, well worth it. MindTrain claims up to 25 hp for full exhaust from them. That's what I have, but, I've never dyno'd it. There was a noticeable difference in power and noise ;-)
Air Intake - K&N and get a smaller diameter airbox top to improve air flow. K&N $40-50 ...airbox top could be as cheap as free depending on what you have lying around. $20 from MRC Manufacturing. Maybe a couple hp couldn't tell ya, but, the engine seems to run much better and I know there was an improvement.
Tune Up - may or may not make your car faster depending on when it was done last, but, it will give you a reference point to go from.
Alot of people are not going to give you hard numbers for these mods because there are too many variables. For example, if you do all kinds of mods to your car, but, leave the stock exhaust your increase in power would be different than if you were to have a free flowing exhaust.
