Dressing your car up is a personal choice. It's your car, I'd do what you like. Louvers were fairly popular back in the day on several different vehicles. Many probably perished along with the cars they were attached too over the years. They are just a bolt on item so if you want to change back, its not that big of a deal.

They are easy to find...there is a company called SFX Performance that sell them...rear hatch and sides...

As said, it's a personal taste thing. I personally have never like them on any car, but they are a period-correct accessory and we are dealing with a classic car here, so... beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Someone mentioned vinyl roofs and I gotta say I LOVE vinyl roofs, if period correct. I had a '67 Cougar, white with black vinyl roof and Ive loved them ever since. They trap water, but look so "upscale" on a '60's or '70's car.

Yup, they even gave it a posh name: Landau roof. lol. Matched with "Corinthian" leather interior. Even better with the swirly "coachwork" detail.
