"The Loudest Exhaust I have ever heard"
I have a custom 3" exhaust. Its not too loud. But then I have the equivelent to about 5' of muffler (3' cherry bomb and almost 2' long magnaflow). Deepest sounding rotary I have hear too.
A few weeks ago I got pulled over by a CHP. I thought for sure he was gonna say something about the noxious gas smell, or the sound, but he didn't. Wrote my ticket and sent me on my way. Whew! (I say this since I have a header to straight pipe to muffler).

but seriously, what a *****..... I dont get it... Even if you had gawd aweful loud headers to straight pipe to ricer cannon.... a harley is louder...... What a *****...
Good luck...
If we are getting tickets for load exhaust, then those harley's with straight pipes, should always be seen on the side of the road with flashing cherries behind them

I'm safe either way. Around here (Chatham ontario), there is just a noise bylaw. Unless someone complains about something being too loud, they can't pull you over. But I have to agree with rototiller. The harleys are really loud. Probably louder than most rotaries even with a moderate to loud exhaust. It really all depends on what you consider loud. A rotary with RB exhaust to me is quiet. One like mine is moderate. Open headers is loud. To put things into perspective, think about a riced out honda civic with exhaust. What would you say about that?

How loud would you say a riced out civic is. I'm actually disappointed in my exhaust. I expected it to blow away my friends 5.0L with pretty much open headers. Its not even close. I just want to get the idea of what you guys think is loud. Try to be a little serious here.

I have a hypothesis, yet to be tested as I am poor, that my custom single chamber dual outlet Flowmaster 40 series hooked up to 2.5 inch pipe straight back from Racing Beat headers might get me a similar ticket.
Yeah, we(well my dad, cause i didnt want to get in trouble) drove my car to the muffler shop awhile back with just some headers on. THAT IS LOUD. We were lucky to not get caught or something. I didnt have insurance or a tag> Risky
i had a apexi n1 exaust on my se with reacingbeat headers n center secrtion. that was realy loud... it sounded like a dragster n it will shake the floor if i rev it. it shot flames like crazy. the n1 didnt muffle at all. it was like having no muffler. i drove it like that for about a week (luckly i didnt get n e tickets but got alot of attention) n i installed a nice n quiet racing beat exhaust instead. the n1 had all of its carbon material in the muffler blown out. i guess apexi mufflers cant stand the heat from rotary engines. that was a big waist of money.

loudest thing i have EVER been is was my buds fc with a huge SP.. RB header.. to 2.5inch pipe ( straight pipe) to a fart can... it actually sounded pretty good.. but without a doubt was insanely loud

RB headder into the rice cannon. problem is that I did not get a good seal and i have a huge leak so it is pretty much just the straightpipe. no pre sci's . I need to get this fixed.
old thread b ut it has came to a conclusion. you see I could not pay the fine and ended up having my liscence suspended. then it went to colection. so the better part of the summeer i couldn't drive the 7. BS at its finest. well im back on the road again.
Thats lame man, are you in WA? I was reading the RCWs online the other day, and it seems to me that you cant technically be issued such a ticket without a proper SAE standardized test of your exhaust first. Innocent until proven guilty. Although, they CAN ticket you for modifying the exhaust to aplify noise or some **** like that. I dunno, Im no lawyer though, I just know some friends that got out of those kind of tickets cause it wasnt officially tested or something.

Section from RCW 46.37.390:
"No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the engine of such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle, and it shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle not equipped as required by this subsection, or which has been amplified as prohibited by this subsection so that the vehicle's exhaust noise exceeds ninety-five decibels as measured by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) test procedure J1169 (May, 1998). It is not a violation of this subsection unless proven by proper authorities that the exhaust system modification results in noise amplification in excess of ninety-five decibels under the prescribed SAE test standard. A court may dismiss an infraction notice for a violation of this subsection if there is reasonable grounds to believe that the vehicle was not operated in violation of this subsection."

I have found out that a 90 degree bend will muffle the same amount of sound as 7m of straight pipe.
That said, i am currently running a RB header into straight 2,5" pipe with two flowtrough Ferrita mufflers. Its not that loud, but my god, the resonance in the car!
The way you suspend the exhaust has a lot to say about the sound you can hear inside the car!

90 Deg bend?Ok,now that is something to remember!
I have allso found, that header`s collection angle makes a big difference in the amount of noise(more/less tinny sound) that it makes.
Havent gotten a ticket yet,but i think it will be in the post some day
