Exclamation Loss of power, backfiring issue.

k so last sat. i was in 5th doin like 110 in my 1984 gs 12a and all of a sudden my car was deaccelerating... well i shifted to neutral and coasted but ever since that its a totally different car, it backfires, sounds different, isn't as free... like i have to push it to 30... idk what i did now , sure if i replaced the engine again it'd be fine, but WTH im gonna have a collection of engines soon if i keep doing that, ...i plan to least keep this one and fully upgrade and customize my car, thought bout getting another but... mechanical issues suck. anyone any ideas??

-engine threw an apex seal? - My old RX4 wagon did as you described when it coughed up an apex seal Back In The Day -compression test will tell you
-ignition issues (hopefully!) - each plug getting spark?
Might want to cruise thru the Archive see if others posted similar problems and the solutions

Check your spark. Sounds like your leading ignitor died to me...

First check to make sure you have leading spark as ratboy has suggested then if that is good do a compression test.

If you have not done one before you can find the procedure in a thread in the Archive forum.
