Installing clutch slave, with the beehive on and normal engine position?

Anybody know an easy way to this? I can get the one on, but the second one thats closer to the beehive is proving to be a PITA ... any suggestions would be great.

i use a 6" and a 3" extention and a 12mm deep well socket. i've used swivels. you just have to be patient with it.

I never needed a flex fitting. I just use an extension with the proper socket and never had an issue on my car (beehive included).

You got it easy! . Takes a lot longer with the rb engine torque brace...
I got one bolt holding the clutch slave and another just in there cause I stripped one. Make sure you got the right angle on it. Everything everybody else said is good. Good luck!

Take a recipient. Put a cnunk of it aroudn the nut and put it in the socket. that will hold the nut in the socket. Take a 6" or 2 and put the socket on it and use it like it were longer hands.. Start it then use the ratchet. Thats how i did it..

I've, unfortunately, done this multiple times. It helps to have a speed handle with a 6' extension. Any normal 12mm socket will do. Flex fittings will just make it more frustrating. Getting it back in is a whole different ball game.

You take a little square of the reciet and put it on the head of the bolt before u put it on the socket and it will stay on the socket. Then you put a extention on the socket and thread it by hand. Sorry i typed that like a retard yesterday.

I think that what is making things harder is that I have my -6 an feed and return routed right beside the beehive.

Yeah that's probably it. With mine and Marc's I found that a 10" extension and a deep socket were enough to get it done without any flex/u-joint style bits. You just have to get it started by hand.

Of course, on a -stock- FB the rat's nest makes it impossible, but with that out you should be able to get your hand in there and start the bolt, then just find a good place for the extension and go nuts

If you think the slave is a bitch, think of what the master would have been like if your dash wasn't out! I've done four like that... REALLY tough.

Yeah, I have a special fake deep well 12mm socket for doing the master. It is actually a regular socket with the center drilled out to 3/8". It allows the stud to fit up inside the socket almost all the way through with just enough grip on the extension to get the job done.

Alright I'm putting this out there for reference, my problem actually wasn't the fact that I didn't have the right lengths and extensions, turns out I just needed a smaller ratchet size, all my tools are 1/2" drive, but when i was at my buddy's shop today to get my muffler on, I used a 1/4" drive ratchet, and extensions and the things took 30 seconds to put on both back in. No swivel pieces and what not were needed. So there you have it

Jeff, what bolts do you get at with that special 12mm socket? Does that get at the ones underneath the dash?

Now that you mention it, I believe I also used a 1/4" drive. Something was in the way when trying to use the 3/8" drive, but it worked okay with the smaller one. Can't remember the details though, did a lot of work on the car that day...

It pays to have a good set of 1/4 drive sockets, extensions, deepwalls, and a light action ratchet. Hard to find that light action ratchet, but snapons are good.

It takes a little fishing around to get the rounded end of the slave pushrod properly seated in the clutch throwout lever. But it's got to be right.
