I work at a place in Point Roberts called The Letter Carrier. You can have your packages sent there and we just charge a small fee depending on the weight of the package. 98% of our customers are from BC. You can always have a friend or family member pick up the packages if you cant cross the border yourself. I can give you the address if your interested.

If you have the shipper use US Postal Service there are no duties charged, only shipping cost. If the parts are used there are no duties at all, but with UPS/FEDEX, etc they charge a brokerage fee for any package that has to clear customs. USPS does not.

Shipping costs cant be avoided and are not that different for US or within canada now that our currencies are same value.

some other things to try

1. post wanted to buy in the classifieds of canadian section
2. search or post all major canadian city Kijiji or Used "city" .com
3. ask private international shippers to put "gift" on package ( no duty )

as said , request USPS , avoid at all costs the brokerage fee thieves at UPS ( U People Suck) , Fedex sometimes misses chargeing it
