Looking into buying a 1984 RX7

I'm currently an RX-8 owner and registered user on rx8club.com and I'm looking to have another car, rotary preferable aside from that. While I was just browsing craigslist ad's at work, I came across this.
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/cto/1129779938.html

Could you guys give me some feedback on what I should look out for, because I'm meeting up with the guy tomorrow afternoonish.

thanks guys!

That is a GSLSE, the most desirable of all first gens. Great deal if it's running well!

If it runs as good as it looks it sounds like a great deal. I would check for rust underneath the storage compartments. It takes a little to get behind them, but is worth it. Even in AZ its possible for a little rust to start, and if it has that's the first place to look. I am sure some of the more experienced guys will give you even more advice. Good Luck

sounds like a greeat deal..though i wouldnt say that the GSL-SE's are the most desireable first gen...beauty is in the eye of the beholder. i will say though tha tif you really are 6 foot 7, you may have a tough time finding comfort in the 7. do you have any more info on the car or have you spoken with the owner to find out if it has any mechanical problems?

I am actually 6 foot 7, and I am scheduled to meet the guy soon for a test drive, he said on the phone it runs flawless but who wouldn't say that if they're looking for a quick sale.

A couple things to watch for, with any older rotary:

If he's already warmed the engine up before you get there, he may be trying to mask the signs of aging seals.

Have him start the car for you, and try to be at the rear by the exhaust when he does so. Look/listen/smell.

though i wouldnt say that the GSL-SE's are the most desireable first gen
I concur.
