Looking into a 84 RX7
Hey im looking into possibly buying my friends 84 RX7 with
a 13b engine and im not to sure how many kms it has or anything
but he says it runs good and the interior is pretty good, just
it has some rust, im totally new to rotaries just wondering what
i should look for, and this is also $500 canadian

i got my 82 for $500 Canadian aswell, there is one thing with rust you can look for and almost garuanty that there is rust underneath the storage bins, but all our cars got rust their, I would buy it. Its Pretty easy to work on these cars. Do you have any pictures of the car. The Guys Here are all good and can help you out whenever your in need of it

yeah i dunno if he knew what he was talking about when i asked him what engine he doesnt know much about it i dont think, hasnt driven it for a while, just started it up and what not, no pics yet, but he said there is some floor rust and rocker panel rust

you're looking at 2300lbs for a 12a car and 2600 for an -se car.
if you want a daily driver, stick with what's already in it, whether it be 12a or 13b.
12a's are smaller displacement, so they aren't as powerful. older engines have a reputation for being more reliable than 86 on up, but i would argue that a bit of that is because people tend to hot rod the newer engines more.
a stock port 12a with exhaust and intake upgrades will hit 150 at the flywheel.
that'd be fun to get groceries in.
if you really want to go ***** to the wall (unless you have a taste for going down the road less traveled) go with a 13b, especially the s5 or RE(W) series.
my project is an s5 turbo with all sorts of goodies but it's going to be a toy for me, not reliable transportation.
the weight diff. between the engines is negligible.
