Looking for advice
Hello everyone.
Although I am not yet a part of the Rotary Brotherhood, I am a Mazda lover. I currently have an MX6 (1993). I have my eye's on an 85 RX7 with 186 XXX KMs. Anything I should know about this car. Any advice on what I should be looking for in this car? You know what I mena, little secrets like if it ticks when warming up, it's okay, it's just the HLA's (on a MX6 only)
Thaks for any advice, I would love to own a RX7, but just being cautious about where I throw my money.

If it ticks durring warm-up, RUN AWAY FAST!!!! If you can find an rotary with a bad valve train, you'll make history, or get laughed off the forum. The first thing you need to do is get a basic understanding of the engine. Be ready to dump a little cash, and a lot of time, into it. If you have a girlfriend/wife, you need to let that relationship go. The car, and the woman, will both get jealous of the other, and they'll both start acting unexplainabely wierd.

Onward thru the fog!
JamesP,
Welcome. If you want a good place to start, look up at the thread titled "THE 1ST GEN RX-7 FAQ PAGE". There's great info there! Then, if you get pix and a price of the car in question, post it here and "everybody" will give you their opinion. Note mileage, modifications, rust, etc.
Good luck,
DD

Look out for rust under the wheel wells, behind the storage bins and everywhere else. If you don't know about the rotary, go to howstuffworks.com and check out the rotary engine. You'll never ever want pistons again! Good luck and hopefully everything will come through. And don't let your car take your life( limit your time and wifes should always be first, but second after god. Welcome to the forum. God bless

You should find god and apologize in advance for all the times you will take his name in vain...
seriously.....
Look under the hood for oil on top of the motor where it says "mazda"
Find out what your local emmisions laws are and then make sure the car will pass. (eg cats or no cats)
Drive it, it is a car and although the motor is very different from all others the rest of the car isnt. If it feels wrong it probably is.
Lastly.....
Dont be afraid to ask, the 1st get tech forum is the nicest and smartest bunch of guys I ever ran into. The amount of knowledge either first hand or through trial and error is amazing.
There isnt anything that you can ask thet you wont get at least 10 different repairs or fixes for.
PRAISE FOR THE 1ST GEN FORUM !!!!!!!!!

LOL
You guys kill me.
When I mentioned ticking, I was refering to my MX6. It's a common problem. I am fairly well versed in rotary (they're pistons in there,,, right?? ) I was more so refering to trouble spots, like rust spots, and funny engine noises. As for screaming the Lords name in vain,, I already have an MX6, he and I are on a first name basis.
