lookin 4 tranny rebuild kit

looking for a 1st gen tranny (5spd) rebuild kit and site.
has anyone done this?
how hard was it ?
what tools did ya need ?
stuff like that...........
cost of kit ?
the reason I ask is that taking it to a rebuild shop is a no go, I am not going to pay what they want to do it.
So its time to do it my self

Junkyard is the economical way to go. You need special tools , and there is no kit. You buy what you need as you go.

Yeah and thats if you can find them, and a tranny rebuild is a freaking nightmare... Only thing worse is an auto matic tranny rebuild

JY's probally got a shitload of them for like $25-50

Sometimes you can get a good one from a parted out car or a wreck. I just got a good one recently rebuilt before he rollled the car for $250. You can put several hundred bucks in parts one or two at a time. And it's a bear of a job.
