Looked everywhere (search, etc) but no luck...
I've got a '79 GS with an annoying problem... On deceleation (even if I put the clutch in) I get this annoying clunk clunk clunk clunk noise until I stop. It occurs in every gear, and seems to be with the wheel speed (clunk speed = wheel speed). I'm wondering whether this could be u-joints, differential, wheel bearings, etc. The wheel bearings have been a bit noisy, but this is a definate clunk (I can feel it through the floor, and I can hear it echoing off of nearby buildings outside if I roll my window down). Which one of these would it most likely be? I can get hooked up with a used driveshaft to try that out (Paul, I may need that one in front of your car). Should I give the driveshaft a try?

Tennis, anyone
did the car all of a sudden start doing that ???
did you do anything, work wise, under the car ???
while driving does the shifter move around ???
find a hill, not to steep, that is quite, drive down it with
the engine off,,and feel and listen,,or block the rearend
up and test and listen,,thats probley the best,,in a controled area,,,the first thing that came to your mind
was the driveshaft,,because it feels like it's out of balance ,,right ??,,,remember when doing anything to
the driveshaft, always,,always, spray some paint at
the parts where they come apart,so when reassembling
you align the marks to where it was,,,i read somwhere
about u-joints acting the way you describe, when they are bad,,or failing
