im rebuilding this for a friend and after taking it apart i found this big dent on the rotor housing. it looks like it was "pushed" out from the water seal! the reason we wanted to rebuild it was because he blew a heater hose and blew a water seal. has anybody seen anything like this? more importantly how the heck did this happen?

good amount of chrome flaking and rot on the lip. never seen that problem with the water seal but my guess would be corrosion under the seal can cause the seal seat to be eaten by the corrosion. i cant really tell if its corrocion of if its just bubbled out...

It looks overheated and crushed. Look for a new pair.
