Look At My SUPER NIKKI

This is my Frankenstein SUPER NIKKI, take a YawPower street carb, sprinkle on the choice parts from a '73 12a carb and voila, 10,000 CFM any questions?

Those are prototypes to test theories I have. You really dont gain much from all that work unless you got some huge venturis which arent practical. At least at this point. I'm always working with new ideas (Sterling too) and some interesting stuff has come out of it. The clumination of those 2 protypes told me that a better air box gives just about the same benefit without all the machine work involved in modding the carb. Hence my post on the air box.

Once agian I find myself saying " I know where I'm getting my new carb." Thanks. How can I use an aftermarket breather. I'm looking at useing something like this. I'm kinda one off those "and it looks good too" guys. Forgot to put in the pic.Now I don't even se where I can do that.

I looked at the Edelbrock. The big problem is that the stack is made for a bigger throated carb. You could make it work with a Nikki, but the contour is all wrong and the airflow will suffer. If you want to go full aftermarket drop in, look at the RB unit if they still sell them (but I dont know how well they flow, never had one). But you'll have to buy a filter too. I apologize for teh thread hijack 10,000. Nice work on the airbox, I bet it flows as well as the bonez unit. No Bob, I havent made one to flow it yet. Maybe this weekend.

Thumbs up

Yeah! nice work Carl, you are a big step ahead of me man! That was going to be my next progression in my nikki saga but i think I am gonna wait till I streetport.
For the time being I am going to drop in my GSL-SE motor/Dellorto setup.

As for the airbox mod, it seals perfectly. I have 20,000 miles on this 12a setup and things are still clean under the air cleaner lid.

One thing people should notice is those two nipples sticking out of the airhorn (carb top) on the front, those are the '73 carb's OMP ports, so what is happening is instead of the oil being dribbled into the motor, it is dripping into the float bowls to mix with the gasoline.
Sweet huh, premixing in the carb. I figure Mazda had to stop doing this because of emissions, if there was allways oil in the bowls, well thats not too good when measuring Hc in parts per million. I think that a bill should be passed to measure rotaries in parts per trillion, then we would have some room to play

Yea, That was the closest pic I could find in a hurry, The one I want is by Weiand and has a paper filter and hard top. My old v8's would actually suck the filter into the carb on those!

here are pics of my old rx-2 carb mated with a 76 cosmo intake reversed intake manifold. thats what i've used in the 80's prior to switching to a 48 ida. although it was just a mild port (RB ports), it ran good and beat lots of v8 but tuning is a bitch. lots of trial and errors. sorry for long pics.

Now we're on the topic of pre-79 intake manifolds. Does anyone want to buy a intake manifold for a '70's 13b? I don't know if it would be anything someone needs unless someone wants to build a 13b 4port or something and wants to use a stock Nikki? I just know its pretty rare to come by if someone wanted one.
