as long as the car is on good shape and well mantained then yes its fine.

my 83 gsl made the trip between here(huntsville,al) and houston(about 850 miles one way) well over a dozen times when i was going to college there with very few problems. IIRC i put about 33k miles on it in 1 year

I don't see any problem with it as long as the car has been maintained. I drove my TII from here (Youngstown Oh) to Penn State Main, about 190 miles one way a few times with no issue. Always do general maintainance of the entire car before heading on a long trip though. Inspect not only the motor, but the suspension, tires, brakes, bushings, etc. I think the only real concern if your car is in good shape is the damn gas prices.

I drove my Peripheral Port 13B powered 1st gen with Weber 51IDA, puck clutch, 4.88 gears, roll cage and tire/tool trailer 8,000 miles round trip in a week and a half two years ago. That was Portland, Oregon to Gainsville, Florida and back.

If that could make a long journey, I think a more modest one could pretty much handle any long commute on a daily basis.

I have no problem jumping in my 2nd gen and making the 600+ mile trip, one way, to my sister's house. When the widebody 12a bp is broke in, it will do the same.

two days after i bought my 83 gs i made a round trip from boise id to san fran, a little over 1200 miles. of couse i gave it a once over and a tune up before hand. granted it had a pretty good oil leak coming out of the front cover but it still ran like a champ and got pretty good gas mileage to boot, right around 30mpg. that was one of the best road trips i've been on. it was a blast up in the mountians on the way through lake tahoe and reno. just a warning though long road trips with a straight piped exhaust isn't the most relaxing thing in the world. needless to say i bought a new muffler when i got back. the way i see it is these cars were meant to be driven so drive the wheels off it and fix it when it breaks, thats half the fun of having an rx7 anyways, right?
