i bought my 84gslse with tokico illuminas and stock springs. i now have new springs to put on but im having trouble getting the lock nut off the top of the front shock absorber. im new to cars in general, so forgive me if im missing something obvious, but please help me out.

 

those things are a real pain.... the shaft keeps turning as you try to loosen it. try getting an impact wrench. rent one if you can, or buy one from sears and return it when you're done ::

 

impact wrench is the way to go. any other way I know of will hurt the shock..........ok when your replacing, no good if your keeping them.
