A little vid of my 1st gen
Here is a preliminary video of my 82 GSL with 88 NA 6-port and edelbrock 600 carb. More mods in sig. But anyway, the carb still isn't fully tuned, trying to get it worked out. The first run is from a roll at about 15mph up to just under 100mph. Had my foot to the floor for this one. The a/f ratios at WOT need a lot of work, its still soo rich that it stumbles a little, can't really hear it in the vid, but it does. The second run is with the throttle just shy of WOT. No difference in power really but leans it out enough that it doesn't stumble. The car is pretty quick, making about 135-140hp I think at this point. With some more tuning of the carb, and possibly some changes to ignition timing I could gain another 20hp I think. That will put it right where I think the engine should be, about 160-170hp. Either way, its going to be a fun car to drive.

Might have to wait a few minutes as the vid is not available yet when I posted this.

The gauges are iEquus performance 8000. The wideband to the far right of the screen is an AEM gauge type wideband a/f ratio monitor.
Sounds like a plan dj55b. What you got left to do on yours? I thought it was pretty close to being done.

Still waiting on my Shell from trochoid really ... he's also hooking me up with a mariah mode 4 front and side skirts ... He's also getting me a fuel tank with a second gen intank pump (will be a walbro pump in there too) The interior is almost done ... just waiting on a few more parts really. I should be able to make it to the bruce county meet though not sure if you plan on coming or not.

Is there a thread about the bruce county meet? I might be able to make it for that. My car still needs a bunch of work. I'm just happy its drivable again after nearly 4 years of work.
Why do you think I wasn't shifting at 7 grand? Because I was shifting at 7 grand. I just wasn't at full throttle really getting up there. The carb still needs work, actual modding of internal parts to make it run leaner. Edelbrock uses fixed air bleeds on their primaries and secondaries, but I could make them bigger if that will solve my problems, but I don't know enough about air bleeds to do anything with them and I don't wanna mess with that untill I know what I'm working with. As mentioned, the carb is holding the engine back by overfueling it. Some work on getting it leaner and mabey advancing the timing about 10 degrees will really liven up the engine. I got stock timing right now, with a home made TT box and 2nd gen coil.
For the exhaust, its unique, and too loud at this point. Its a true dual (RB 2nd gen streetport exhaust style), with dual 2" pipes to 2 magnaflows out back. I love the way it sounds, just wasn't sure what other people would think.

I use an edelbrock and it works perfect. Air fuel is soooooooo easy to adjust! Exactly which model do you have (is it a performer or thunder series, if uncertain take a pic of the top of the carb). What cfm? What air filter (take a pic please). Are you running a carb spacer, if so what is it? I can help you dialing this thing in nicely. Running too rich kills your top end. I'll guide you with dialing you primaries in first, then your secondaries. My carb is off my engine so if you have the same model I can take guiding pics for you. First thing you will need to do is purchase a strip kit (has jets, spings, metering rods etc) from your local speed shop.

You've seen my other post about dialing in my edelbrock 84stock, you actually posted there about the air cleaner. I've got the primaries figured out I think, no stumbles under part throttle accel, cruise, and taking off. The problems comes when I open up the secondaries. Anyway, there is a better description of whats going on and a plan I made to solve it in my other thread.
Just so you know, its an Edelbrock performer series 600cfm carb. I've currently got .095 primaries, 6852 metering rods, orange springs, and .077 secondaries (smallest edelbrock offers).

600 CFM is pretty big for stock ports, no wonder it's rich.
Sounds interesting, but it's uncollected? If so you're missing out on power. It's also louder that way.

Ok, this is what I have for my carb and intake:
-Spectre 14" round air cleaner with drop base and 3" element
-Edelbrock 600 carb
-NO SPACER, not enough room. Air cleaner barely clears hood as it is
-Jay-Tech intake manifold that someone previously modded for open plenum, I converted back to separated runners by making an insert.
About the exhaust, I don't have tons of money to work with, and I got a pacesetter header for free off another engine. They are crap as collected, but true dual setups have been proven to produce more power than even some tuned collected systems. This is designed from the RB true dual system sold for the FC.
Oh yeah, 84stock PLEASE post in the other thread I have made for discussion about the problems I'm having. https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/ignition-carb-gurus-help-me-out-650757/ just so you know what thread I'm talking about.
