Little help please!
Hey guys,
Just wondering if you all could give a little help. Here is my problem. I have an 84 GSL-SE with a street ported turbo II. I am still running the stock 84 intake manifolds and a T3 turbo at 12psi. I have added two extra injectors(720's) controlled by a Haltec F5 and 3 inch exhaust. The car runs great, but when I am at the drag strip racing, at the top of 4th gear about 7100 rpm, it just kinda loses power. The engine still runs and stuff, but I have the peddal to the floor and it just kinda bucks and hops and wont do anything the last 70 yards to the finish line. Any ideas? I was thinking maybe I need an MSD, possibly blowing out the spark? Or maybe something to do with fuel? I have an FMU that I have not installed. I just put a fuel pressure guage on it and at idle its about 35 psi and floored it goes up to about 42 or 43 and just stays all the way down the quarter. Please help!! Its killing my quarter mile times. Thanks!

I'm not sure on the specs on the turbo. My brother has one on his Pinto and he runs 24 psi, so I think I'm ok there. I have 3 inch coming right off the turbo and coming out right before the rear wheel on the passenger side.

What ECU? Has the microfueller been tuned properly? How much ignition timing? Give us the complete specs of your setup.

T3 is too small for starters. The stock T18 hot side is equal to a T4 and thats bone stock with no porting and only 6-8psi.Even if the compressor could keep up,the hotside is a bottleneck.
Are you running 680cc SE primary injectors,PLUS 720cc secondaries?
Thats too much fuel.I got by just fine up to 14psi running 550cc primaries and 680cc secondaries.
Could be the fuel pump,if you run out of fuel youll loose power and start detonating, which can cause all kinds of problems and will usually kill the engine.Be careful.....
What kind of coils?Direct fire or stock SE distributor setup?
MSD shouldnt be required, but its a damn nice mod that can only help.
Intercooling? That little compressor will be getting the air very hot at those pressures, its most definately being overworked.A stock N/A 12A moves as much air as a 2.3L piston engine. Just imagine how much air a ported, turbo'ed 13B needs?!Thats partly why the TII turbo is one of the biggest factory automobile turbos out there....
