a little help

I'm getting my 84 se on the road within the next month or so, it is my first 7, im looking for a couple maintenance tips, and a couple answers. my first question is, the car pulls the oil from the motor for the oil injection right? how often will it be before i need to add/change my oil? how do i keep my engine runnign strong? and any other tips you guys have for me thanks guys

Check the faqs. If you add the proper amount of oil at an oil change you shouldnt need to add any more until your next oil change 3000 miles later. just keep an eye on it.

Yes 3000 miles between changes, but I would dip the engine every week or two and certainly after any long runs. As the original post, these engines are designed to inject sump oil into the carb so you have to keep a close eye on the dip stick.
To keep it running strong, don't go thrashing into the red line and WATCH THE WATER LEVEL AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT. The engine will not survive low water running conditions.
Also there's a couple of 'O' rings in the inlet manifold gasket which can leak. at the 1st signs of any unexplained water loss, look behind the carb, from the drivers fender side - this usually shows as a little puddle on top of the manifold. This only happens about every 15 years or so. Mines a 1985 and I've had to change 'O' rings only once through failure and once again on a partial strip down.
