I downloaded to a little wwwwhhhhhiiiiiiilllllllllleeeeee.
Tried to watch it, but for some reason all the cars looked like something a clown would drive in the circus. Guess me viewer didn't like it, because it made all the cars look a few feet too short.

Great video, even though all of the cars look like mini coopers and vw beetles because of the lens or editing. Looks like fun though, I need to find where around me they hold events like that.

peace

Yeah the guy taking the video needs to learn to use his zoom better and not overzoom so on formatting things shrink.

Find your region in SOLO II and voila there will be a schedule of local events

Please tell Guido The Penguin that I couldn't even finish watching his video due to the horrible distortion of the view. All the cars looked like Toyota Echoes or Geo Trackers. To make a svelte 3rd gen RX-7 look like a Fisher-Price Weeble-People version of a Hyundai Tiburon is an abomination, a crime against the nature of sports cars.
If you post anything else by Guido, please put a disclaimer on it.

That's extremely loud - louder than the 3rd gen in the video.

PLEASE don't even T HINK about bitching. It was something new, and he did it on ACCIDENT. If you see all the "OTHER" videos he has made, then maybe you people wouldn't BITCH so damn much. Not to be rude or anything, but you're being totally rude your self. It was something different, not to be so "basic" but to make it interesting. Lets see you come up with something better ? He's made alot of our videos GOOD.. So please.. don't assume ANYTHING until you know the facts.

I can't believe most of you are bitching and whining... sheeesh!

and about the music, who cares? It's music, don't like it..well I dunno.. but I didn't expect you guys to whine and cry about some video....

I thought the video was great. I've never really seen any videos of autocross, and was interested to see what the course setup is like. Any chance of getting an in-car video of a full run on the auto-x?

I just thought it was funny how much the blue WRX looked like this:

My apologies for speaking my mind. I didn't know Guido had a fan club.

Look, I love amateur car competition. I love sports cars. And I especially love the chance to see some cool autocrossing action on my computer while I'm stuck in the snowy north with a disassembled RX-7. So I was very excited to see that someone posted a huge video, and I downloaded it immediately.

Now I'm not expecting Hollywood filmaking here. I've shot a bunch of really bad home-video myself (my unposted choppy exploration of the '03 Detroit auto show gives people motion sickness and whiplash) and I know it's a difficult fine art.

But this video: from your posts I get the impression that Guido was exploring a new direction with this one, and unfortunately his aspect-ratio experiment didn't really work out for accurate or captivating portrayal of autocrossing. It was hard on my eyes and brain, I kept straining to make out what kinds of cars they were and the geometries of the corners they were taking. Sometimes I could not make sense of the corners due to the extreme distortion. Sometime it was fine, then all of a sudden it would get worse. It was a classic case of too much, too often.

My personal preferences are that for documenting real life, special effects should be minimal and unobtrusive to the events captured. We all grew up on TV, and TV is fake. We prefer real life, and that's why we go out and have fun with our real cars instead of determining autocross championships by playing Gran Turismo.

Now you say he has other videos: I'd love to download them. I'm not going to delete this Feb. one posted here, in fact I'm going to try and finish watching it someday. I love autocrossing and plan to participate once my car's together.
So please, tell Guido:
1) I'm sorry for being a harsh critic but I call 'em like I see 'em.
2) If this squished-cars video is NOT typical of his work, please post some more.

- Josh

Yup. Some guys will tape the videos to their cars... There was one of the swifts with a cam mounted on top of the bar... I'm hoping if my shoulder is better by next month to run mine again... and get some in-car video shots.
