Limited Edition worth a...?
I bought a Limited Edition RX-7 for $150 , and after doing some reading it must be an '83 and I was wondering is the car worth a hoot or not?

You have a bunch of work ahead of you then.
Clean out that tank, flush the fuel lines, clean (rebuild?) the carb, etc.....
If you search through the forum you can find a bunch of stuff that's usually recommended upon purchasing a 7.... (fuel filter, hightension wires, plugs, etc.)
Welcome to the world of the RX-7 and here's hoping you enjoy like we all do

The only thing on the car worth anything more than any other 1st gen is the wheels. Otherwise it's just a GS with a sunroof, the chatoue silver, the limited badging, and the wheels. Don't get me wrong they are nice cars (I have one) but they arn't worth more per-say than anyother first gen.

You can turbo a 12a. BUT there is not a kit out there to do so. You will have to make your own manifolds and what not. Also the 12a is a fairly high compression motor, in it's stock form the motor will not like much boost. Also a blow or draw threw setup on the stock nikki carb is pushing it. As you will quickly starve the motor for fuel with the stock carb and fuel pump. It's quite a bit of work but can be done. Another route is to do what I'm going to be doing. That is put a 13bt out of a 2nd gen turbo TII in the car. You will need a motor with the turbo and all that jazz. Also the wiring and ecu, and trans, also you will want to put a LSD rearend in the car. So there is no "easy" way to go about turboing the car, but it can be done.

Welcome to the 1st Gen world! Congrats on your purchase. To answer you turbo question, why yes you can put a turbo on the engine, but those are older and harder to find etc etc. Most people prefer to swap the motor with a second gen Turbo2 motor. Factory fuel-injection and turbo. In fact the thread is a sticky.

....Or you could keep it stock for a while =)
They're pretty impressive for the amount of power the engine puts out in stock form...
I plan on keeping my current 7 in stock form and then later (once I'm outta school having another with a turbo 13b (larger) engine....
Anywho, I digress....
Don't get too worried about making it better until you at least get it going... (and if you don't mind a little elbow grease it shouldn't cost you too much)
