Unhappy light trouble please help!!!!

ok i have a 83 rx7 and the problem is that when i turn the car on the instrument lights and hazard lights stay on. Even while the combination switch is off. I've even disconnected the whole combination switch and the lights still come on when the key is turned on. Can anyone please tell me what it might be thats keeping the lights on. Thanks...

Maybe the choke and check relay is bad. Its on the drivers side inner fender in between the windshield and the strut tower. Its a little brass looking (probably tarnished) box with a 4 wire (I think) plug going into it. There are two other little black boxes there as well. Try uplugging the relay (or all of them) and see if the lights go out (they should). The relays only purposes that I have found is to illuminate all the idiot lights when you first turn the key on to check for bad bulbs then turn them off. It also opperates the dinger for the low oil (and probably low coolant and so on). If removed, the idiot lights for everything still work as they are supposed to, they just arent accompanied by the dinger anymore (less annoying anyway). However, if you leave your lights on and turn the engine off, that dinger still works. Basically, what Im getting to is that you dont need it if thats your problem and you dont wanna go buy another one from a junk yard or something. The only things you will loose are all the lights coming on when you turn the key on, and the dingers that go with all the idiot lights when they do come on.

Mine did that when my alternator died/belt broke but I doubt that is it since you said you start and drive the car around.
