Life of Rotary Engine

I have a 85 RX7 GSL which has 175K miles. It runs well but was wondering how much more life I can expect out of this engine? The engine has a slight oil leak and the carborator probably needs overhauled or replaced. Just not a quick as it once was.....I'm considering selling before engine troubles start to appear.

Thanks,

It's impossible to say, really.

If the car starts easily both cold and hot and doesn't blow too much smoke during startup or hard driving, it's in good shape. When those problems start to appear, that's the sign of an engine on its last legs.

with good maintinance and 3k oil changes, never overheating them, they have been known to hit 300k. While that number is rare, it is possible.

Well over 200,000 miles on mine and it is raced regularly. I'm sure compression is down by now, but haven't checked. She does start feeling a little sluggish every couple of months, but a can of Seafoam through the tank brings the pep back again within minutes.
