lets talk about good customer service

I am not sure about the rest of you but I have come to realize that customer service in the states sucks bollocks really badly.

over the past two months I have been trying to order a new wide body kit becuase of cracking in the current kit. after contacting several different supplies of racing and street kits, I finally settled on a kit that is currently in use in the IT-7 class of race cars only to have the company fumble the ball rather badly.

after several very frustrating weeks, I went to my second choice supplier, Mariah Motor sports. their staff was very professional and friendly in their emails and their service was extremly prompt lets try one week to Tokyo from the time I paid for it. Thats faster service then I would have gotten locally!

all the while they kept up a stream of communication and answered all of my questions as they arose.

So I guess my quesiton to you the rest of the forum is, would you settle for something that might have been your second choice, design wise, or would you keep trying at the first place even with lousy customer service?

I guess that I should add in that it was just the gap in the nosepiece that turned me off from Mariahs Kit other than that it looked stunning.

Customer service should always be priority #1 for any business. Many times as a meeting spot after work my buddies and I meet at a Denny's, some nights service is amazing by a waitress named Katia. Other nights I go back and fill up my own drink I get so tired of waiting for this crappy waitress that I don't even care to learn her name. Where are they? In the back doing God knows what, and my buddy insists on always leaving a $5 tip, ridiculous.

So yes, reward good customer service.

Walking out of the 7-11 last night, I realized that the "lady" had given me an extra $5 in change. I thought about it, and went back and gave her the five telling her that she had miscounted. She took the money and looked at me like I was the cause of every problem she had ever had. No thank you, nothing. And this was from a manager no less. Unbelievable.

Just depends on where you're at, at what time. Some places, some times the service is incredible. Other places, other times, they could care less. A lot of the "lower" end jobs (fast food for instance) seem to be especially bad...seems like the kids working there really couldn't care, and the managers can't do anything about it because they have trouble filling all the jobs.

On a similar note, I have to commend RockAuto.com. I've done business with them several times and have always been happy with the prices and service. However, this last time I ordered from them, I waited almost two weeks for a caliper rebuild kit. I finally got tired of waiting and had my local O'Reilly's order it for me and got it overnight. I sent RockAuto an e-mail and told them what happened and requested a refund. I got an apologetic response from a customer service rep and they posted a refund to my credit card a couple of days later.

I am to the point that I will pay more for a product if I know the company and know how good they are.

The only place I frequent that has bad service everytime is the local Mellow Mushroom. One glass of tea is all you are going to get unless you tackle the girl as she goes by.

I tip good for good for normal service and very well for some one that goes above and beyond.

that being said, I would settle for the second choice kit, no reason to support a business that does not want to support it's customers.

i'm sitting here in Cape Town, South Africa and have only had good service from US companies.

I have ordered stuff from Mazdatrix and it takes a WEEK to get here ! They are on the ball.

I ordered stuff from Pineappleracing...they like in Portland. It got here fine, wrapped, kept in contact the whole way.

I ordered stuff from VB (or whatever they call themselves now). Goods arrive, they keep in touch

Also ordered from pegasus racing....again, no problems, goods arrive and they in contact all the way
