Question lemme pick you guy's brain about the RB holley intakes

they are terribly expensive... so i have a few questions:

assuming a stock ported 12a with full RB exauhst:

1.how is fuel economy affected by adding a rb holley intake compared to the stock carb(primarily city driving)

2. what kind of hp gains would the holley intake provide on a sttock ported engine with rb exauhst?

3.the "stumbling around corners" issue... just how bad is it?

4.assuming i was planning to keep the engine stock, and fuel economy was a big concern* along with power-- is the holley intake a good choice, or should i choose something else?

*i know, i know, but gas is expen$ive in this city, and i'd be driving a LOT.

thanks!

I got 200 miles to the tank in my 85 GSL stock. I now have full RB exhaust on a stock port 83 GSL with stock Nikki carb, and get about 250 miles to the tank now.
2.on the above engine setup, what kind of HP gains would likely be seen?
RB claims 22% at X RPMs. I believe it.
3.the "stumbling around corners" issue... just how bad is it?
Are we still talking stock port 12A with full RB exhaust, or have we added the intake now too? With my stock intake and full exhaust, I get little stumbles everynow and then exiting corners at higher speeds. Normal everyday driving I rareyly get anything.
4.assuming i was planning to keep the engine stock, and fuel economy was a big concern* along with power-- is the holley intake a good choice, or should i choose something else?
I dunno .

if your worried about stumbling i would use a weber sidedraft carb...if you want fuel ecconomy keep yhe stock carb but you will never see your full power potential...

The Holley is better on gas than those big 2 bbl carbs like Webber, Delorto and Mikuni. I had a Mikuni one time. I've learned to live with the stumble, it's really not that bad. I probably get somewhere around 20mpg and it runs kinda rich. RB claims an increase of about 20% with the combination Holley kit and exhaust. I'm not sure what the actual #'s r, but there is deffinately a noticeable difference in the increase in power. U can check out their site, the price is $735 for the stock port setup. Racing Beat

this is something i would to takle oneday...

and i been thinging a holly wouldnt really be worth the price for the amount of power it'll give on a stock port.

would it be beter value for money to work the stock carb, i.e re jetting, larger fule pump an what other things u can do?

or would it still not compair?

mmm.. 735$ for holley intake vs. ~same amount for properly setup 50-60 shot of nitrous.

i think nitrous would be more fun.

My mikuni isn't that bad on fuel at all. The difference is marginal if you drive the same way as you did before. Of course you won't, cause you don't want extra HP not to use it...But when you're cruising you'll hardly feel the difference. When pulling hard it'll need some more... But hey, that's why you get the extra HP from!!!
I think RB says the same about Holley setups: not much more fuel consumption under the same conditions. But of course, in reality you will press the gas pedal a little more, as you'll want to enjoy the extra power :-)

Nitrous is a quick fix like heroin,
You always will have the power coming from a bigger carb and intake,

If you know for sure that you wont run the Holley/RB set up then this thread is done with, and you already made up your mind.
