LED headlights blink with turn signals

A friend installed led plug and play headlights on his car. After one night of use the headlights turn off and on whenever he uses the turn signals. Everything blinks like a blinker. It worked fine at first. Now head lights flash everytime he uses the turn signal. Car is a 83. All other bulbs on the car are regular non led bulbs. Anyone else ever encountered this problem?

maybe have him try reinstalling a regular bulb (just get one and swap it into both lights) and see if it goes back to normal behavior. if so, then you know it's an issue the bulbs are causing. if not, then you know you're looking for an issue with the car itself.

This sounds like a classic ground loop to me. LEDs are so much more efficient than tungsten that he might not have noticed a low glow from the old bulbs when those were in. Try cleaning up all of the connectors/sockets/ground lugs before going after the bulbs being the culprit.

It was the turn signal switch . Got a new one from RA. I tried to repair the old one by cleaning the contracts but didn't do any good.

The factory head lamps are H4 7" sealed beam (one piece). You have to either buy a one piece LED or they do sell housings that can take a bulb. When doing this,

It's a good idea to get a headlight harness like the PUTCO that works with an H4 connector. The idea of the harness is that it uses relays to switch the high current instead of putting that high current through the headlight switch on the column. At this point, the headlight switch only supplies low current to trigger the replays and the new harness handles the rest. Going to LED will be less current then halogen, but those old parts are worn and need some help.

U need a h4 glass lense. With the led h4 bulbs you don't have to worry about relays. The switch I had problems with the plastic was real brittle. Shot out couple little detent ***** for the blinker. Glad I could still find a new replacement from rock Auto.
